The mission of SummerSongs is to encourage, support and promote the creation of songs, the work of songwriters, and to facilitate the inclusion of original songs in the life of communities by providing:

  • Opportunities for live performances by songwriters
  • Networking for songwriters
  • Resources and events which promote songwriting
  • Making recordings that document and disseminate the work of songwriters within their communities
  • And by fostering conditions within communities which inspire and encourage artistic expression

SummerSongs, Inc. is a 501-(C)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the art and craft of songwriting and the support and education of songwriters.

I had the most wonderful experience of a life-time when I went to SummerSongs in 2003 & 2004! I met industry professionals and life-long musicians working hard to improve or polish their songwriting and performance craft. There were student musicians on all musical levels including beginers that desired assistance with vocals, guitar, or piano.

The woods were full of beautiful music and souls, for seven days. I know in my heart that many of these folks will become life-long friends. I miss them already..

I was asked to perform sound engineering for the SummerSongs student body and instructors for the nightly summer concert series.. There was so much amazing and spectacular talent. Everyone was big hearted, supportive, and loving in our musical communtity. The instructor staff consisted of Severin Browne, Denise Jordan Finley, Freebo, Eric Garrison, Bill Gessner, Steve Gillette, Julie Gold, Greg Greenway, Paul Harrison, Gloria Jean, David Kleiner, Cindy Mangsen, John Martucci, Penny Nichols, Bonnie O'Donnell, Vito Petrocitto, Siobhan Quinn, John Redgate, Mae Robertson, David Roth, Cosy Sheridan, Greg Trafidlo, Artie Traum, Sloan Wainwright, Steve Warner, Barrett Wolf, Rachel Bissex, David Cook, Cliff Eberhardt, Bob Franke, Greg Greenway, Kate Campbell. I was honored to work with all of these very fine musicians.

To top it all off, I had the exciting experience of listening to and getting to know Julie Gold who wrote the internationally acclaimed song "From a distance". She has a pure and beatiful heart, incredible sense of humor, multi-talented and down to earth. When you get frustrated with the music biz, just remember what Julie says "THEY'RE WRONG!!!!!!" :)
